We finally went on our honeymoon! :) Here’s the story behind it:
My husband has two jobs, I have one. First off, we are both teachers. Second, Bjorn is an officer in the U.S. Army Reserves, which sent him (with me tagging along!) to Fort Lee, Virginia this summer.
Since we got married during the school year, we didn’t really go on a honeymoon. We took a couple days off from school and spent time exploring and relaxing in Minneapolis. While it was wonderful, we were quickly launched back into the school year – complete with grading and report cards and me getting strep a few days after the wedding while Bjorn was gone on 4 days of army training. Needless to say, it was not a very romantic picture of married life right off the bat – but it was REAL LIFE. And that’s what Bjorn and I are committed to doing together.
And now Real Life has brought us here to Virginia! Bjorn works hard during the week (I don’t know many people who will get up at 4:30 am as cheerfully as he does!!), but he usually has weekends off. After being married several months, we’re finally enjoying our LONG-AWAITED honeymoon…and we’re doing it in several parts! :) This is Honeymoon #1.
I hope this gives you some fun travel ideas! I can’t wait to share more trip updates as the summer goes on. :)
Virginia Beach Highlights:
^^ Beach time ^^
^^ Our fancy supper – an AMAZING all-you-can-eat seafood buffet…right on the oceanfront! :) ^^
^^ Getting up at 5:30 to watch the sun rise over the ocean ^^
^^ Best purchase of the trip (besides the seafood buffet) – our 2-person bike! We rode up and down the Boardwalk for an hour on the bike path – what a blast!! ^^
^^ No better way to end a trip than having brunch at a Waffle House! Pecan waffles, mugs of coffee, and loaded hash browns? Yes please. DE-LI-CIOUS. ^^
