Perk of being married to a history teacher: you actually learn things while on vacation! :) Bjorn and I were able to fit in a good amount of historical sightseeing for our “Honeymoon #2” this past weekend. :) (Find the story behind our honeymoon weekends in THIS post.)
We visited Jamestown and Yorktown on Saturday, and went to Fredricksburg and 3 other battlefields on Sunday. I think Jamestown was my favorite site we toured this weekend, but I was surprised by how much I enjoyed hiking around the battlefields and learning about the Civil War, too! I’m splitting this trip into 2 posts so the pictures aren’t overwhelming!! We sure had a special weekend together – learning, walking around a ton, spending time outdoors…can’t get much better than that!
Highlights from Jamestown/Yorktown:
^^ The Native American village! ^^
^^ Inside one of the homes ^^
^^ Inside the fort at Jamestown ^^
^^ What an epic fence! I was totally thinking of the movie “Pocahontas” the entire time (favorite Disney movie, anyone??). :) ^^
^^ What surprised us about the ship replicas we toured was their small size! And one of them brought over about 75 people! ^^
^^ The tent “town” at Yorktown ^^
^^ Bjorn was picked to shout cannon-firing orders as a “captain!” :) ^^
^^ Stud husband ^^
^^ The farm place at Yorktown ^^
That’s it from Jamestown/Yorktown! I’ll put up our Fredricksburg pictures sometime this week. Have a happy Monday!
